It’s hard to speak about football best moment without mentioning Real Madrid. It’s like forgetting Brazil, Argentina, Germany or Italia in World Cup, it makes no senses.

The final against Atletico in 2014 was a final step of 12 years of suffering in Champions League: from the 7 seasons in a row being knocked out in round of 16 (including some cruel ones like against Lyon), to the painful defeats against Barcelona in 2011 or Bayern Munich at penalty the following year, all Madrid fans have been through huge trauma. It became clear and kind of written that the Estádio da Luz was going to be a war field, being an every minute struggle, playing against the city rival; Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid who were in their prime.

Like a wink of fate, the main hero of this game, @sergioramos Don Sergio Ramos Garcia -not again captain at that time- also had a revenge to take against the UCL.
He was the one who sadly missed his penalty against Neuer in 2012, the one that was seen crying in the final whistle of the incredible game against Dortmund in 2013, and, for the oldest among us, the one that had his goal disallowed against Bayern Munich in 2007. He was the perfect representation of the Madrid struggle during the end of the 2000’s era.

As a Madridista myself, I have to say that this is maybe the football game that puts me in the most emotional distress ever. The state of nerve that I had just before Modric corner is not even describable. It is funny to see all this vids on YouTube showing that I wasn’t the only one.
