Illustration of the free kick scored by Diego Maradona during the 1985/1986 season against Juventus Turin.
Everything is improbable about this goal: the distance first (indirect free kick in the area, around 5 meters), the confidence of Maradona, who, even with the almost impossibility of bringing the ball down after the wall, will say to his teammate Eraldo Pesci: « I’m going to score anyway”, and finally, the incredible trajectory of the ball which goes up, down and turns as if it were being lifted. Genius!

We could also talk about the context, this match being the first victory for Maradona’s Napoli over Michel Platini’s Juventus, which was ultra dominant at the time, and which would bring Serie A into a new era.
(I have an illustration ready on the Napoli title in 1987 which I will publish a little later in the season to keep some suspense). And you, which is your favorite action of Maradona at Napoli?
