October 23 marks the 83rd birthday of the (arguably?) greatest footballer in history, @pele .
This week I will illustrate some inspiring moments from his incredible career, starting with the World Cup which saw him reveal himself at the age of 18 in the eyes of the whole world in Sweden, in 1958.
Fewer and fewer people saw Pele play this World Cup. To best prepare the illustrations I had to eat a lot of his documentaries (surprisingly numerous on Youtube, some of which are excellent) or videos of his highlights, and, I have to say that its completely NUTS that a 17 year old player revealed himself like that at the world by scoring 6 goals in such a huge event. 6 goals including zero in the group stage. Like… The man only scored goals in direct elimination phases, with a hat-trick in the semi-finals against France (again us), being a teenager Crazy.
